Lisa Leslie Receives BET Honor

The BET Honors aired last night, but were held on January 12th at Warner Theatre in Washington DC.  Lisa Leslie, T.D. Jakes, Halle Berry, Clarence Avant and Chaka Khan were honored.  Lisa Leslie received her BET Honor for Athletics.  Here are some pictures from the awards show of the 6’5″ Lisa Leslie, looking absolutely gorgeous and elegant in black. If interested you can also watch a five-minute interview with the tall beauty speaking  her story on becoming a sports icon here.

Congratulations to Lisa Leslie and thank you for making us team tall girls proud and showing tall women all over the world that we too can be athletic, fierce, beautiful and still feminine.

So what do you all think of Lisa Leslie’s look for the evening?  I think she looks, classy, elegant, chic and absolutely gorgeous. :)

Grammy Top Three Picks

As you all know the 2013 Grammy awards were presented last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.  I featured some of the red carpet looks from beauties 5’8 and taller on the Pretty Tall Style Facebook page, but here are my top three favorites of the night. I loved them all equally.

5’8 Rihanna looked absolutely amazing in red.  Classy looks good on her, as does bad girl, but I love that she is a style chameleon and can pretty much pull anything off that she chooses.

The 5’11 Taylor Swift looked lovely, like a Grecian goddess with her hair and  this stunning white gown.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

5’8 Kelly Rowland looked amazing with the perfectly placed cutouts and sheer panels. I loved her flawless make-up and pulled back hair with bangs.

So did you have a favorite of the night, tall or otherwise?

Year of the Snake

Sunday February 10th is the start of the Lunar New Year or what is most commonly known as Chinese New Year.  Seeing that 2013 is the year of the snake, what better reason do you need to incorporate this exotic print into your wardrobe. Here are a few of my current favorites.

Farrah Bow Blouse, $109 via Height Goddess

Boyfriend Shirt Dress, $138 via Height Goddess

Joan & David Giane Pump, $149.95, up to a size 12 via Nordstrom

Steve Madden Tailor Flat, $49, up to a size 14 via Barefoot Tess

So how will you be incorporating snake print into your wardrobe this year?

My ‘Aha’ Moment

I had an “aha” moment while picking up my three year old son from pre-school yesterday.  Now my son is tall.  He will be four in May and he is already 46 1/2″ tall and wearing 5t clothes, which are now starting to come up short on him.  I’m used to seeing him tower over his classmates and even some of the first and second graders at his school.  But there is a boy who is four years old and in his pre-school class and has him beat by a good 2-3 inches in height and width. To kind of give you a visual my son would be say comparable to Kevin Garnett’s build and this other child (who happens to be asian) is Yao Ming sized….lol  He is cute as all get out, and every time I see him I am amazed at how big he is.  I find that I can’t stop looking at him when I’m in the class.  I stare at him, not because I think he’s weird or odd looking.  He’s well proportioned and like I said really super cute and so very well mannered.  I find myself staring at him because I am in awe of him.  It’s like I can’t help it, my eyes are drawn to this kid until he looks back and I catch myself and look away…lol

Then it hit me, this is what people do to  I was like ‘aha’!  I now realize that people don’t do it on purpose.  They are not purposely trying to be rude and don’t even realize that they are.  It’s something that you just can’t help and don’t realize that you’re doing until the other person makes eye contact with you and you feel ashamed once you realize you were staring, so you quickly look away. Or at least this is how I felt…lol  So I’m going to give everyone else, all the starers out there the benefit of the doubt and try not to get so upset when I catch someone staring at me from here on out, because I realize they just can’t help it…lol Aha! ;)

Olive and Honey Gold

Hello lovely people, I hope you all are having a terrific Tuesday!DSC01525_pp

Today I am wearing a new color combination that I haven’t tried before and really like.  Olive and honey, the names seem to go together just as perfectly as the color pairing.

The neutral unassuming olive, tones down what could otherwise be a somewhat loud honey gold.  DSC01578

As you can tell I am loving my new Coach bag that the hubby picked out himself and surprised me with.  Love the detail, structure and color of the leather.DSC01524_pp

A cute and casual look that says I’m not afraid to try new things, within reason of course. ;) DSC01544_pp

Honey Gold Skinny Ankle Jeans – (tall)

Bag – Coach

Navy and Fuchsia

Hello Lovelies!

Have you ever made a suit out of two pieces that didn’t come together  or even from the same store?  Well that is what I did here. Remember a while back when I was showing you my closet and talking about editing, because I had so much and could never find anything to wear?  Well I found these navy pants hidden in between a few things.  I’ve had them for months and completely forgot  about them.  I was able to see  this blazer that I’ve had for quite a few months as well and noticed that they were both the same color.   I never wore them together before, because I could not see them.  what do you know they go together perfectly, so now I have a navy suit. ;)DSC01142_pp

What I’m Wearing:

Navy 3/4 Sleeve Blazer – Charlotte Russe

Navy Pants – Banana Republic Factory Store (tall)

Printed Top – Banana Republic Factory Store

Shoes – Nine West via

Gold Cuff Bracelet – Forever 21

Bag – Coach

P.S. I loving my new Coach bag!  My hubby surprised me with it a couple of weeks ago when I was sick in bed with the flu.  The brown pairs very well with navy.

It’s Eclectic

When I was putting this outfit together, I realized that I had a lot going on. I thought well maybe it just might work.  After I viewed the pics I thought, hmmm….well I don’t know.  It looks like I have too much going on here, especially with the two different leopard prints in my shoes and belt.  Then I looked at the pics again and I was kind of like, okay I do have a lot going on, but I like it.  It’s eclectic…lol  So I decided to post the pics anyway.  Again finding one’s style is a learning process and as you all know I post the good, along with the not so good, and the what in the world was I
